Iso-tensing (isometric contracting) or “flexing” the worked muscle in-between sets is something that may get you some weird looks in the gym but it can actually be a helpful training technique.
In between my biceps/triceps superset I grab a bench and contract my triceps as well as my brachialis.
This improves mind muscle connection and extends the set. I’m not saying run off and start flexing in the mirror. Although you’ll see similar stuff at hard-core bodybuilding gyms as guys get closer for shows. This isn’t just to boost their ego, it is actually helping when it comes time to get onstage a pose, where a mind muscle connection is crucial.
