Shining like a beacon, the white alabaster pillar - known as the Kazakh People’s Monument - soars above the National University of Arts and the Palace of Independence in Astana, Kazakhstan. The monument’s base is surrounded by four bronze bas-reliefs representing President Nazarbayev and the People of Kazakhstan, Creation, Future, and Courage. Standing 91 meters tall, the pillar’s height signifies Kazakhstan’s independence in 1991, and is topped with the golden image of the mythological bird Samruk.  The new capital of Kazahstan is full of over the top and modern architecture, making you feel as if you are in tomorrowland.
