Photo @max.lowe // The keep at Dubrovnik’s old fortress on The Dalmatian Coast of Croatia is lit as the city slips into night beyond, and locals come out to enjoy a balmy fall evening under the ancient walls. The old city, which is still inhabited to this day, served first as a stronghold to control trade in the region and defend against pirates in the days of sail and canon, but was even more recently used as a bastion for the Croation Army when the Yugoslav Peoples Army invaded in the early 1990’s. Now in peace, the old fortress who’s walls still stand resolute, draws tourists and locals alike with its aged romance.
