HAPPY PODCAST DAY!!!!! Today's episode is both heavy and hard to listen to, mega inspirational and absolutely full of magic. In today's episode of the podcast I talk to @thordiselva - journalist, speaker, writer, crusader for women's rights and survivor of rape. I look at her and see a Joan of Arc of our time - this woman is a force of nature???? Thordis tells the story of how she was raped by her then-boyfriend when she was 16 years old and how it sent her down a spiral of self harm. She eventually found healing through confronting her perpetrator and ended up writing a book together with him and doing a TED Talk (that went absolutely viral!) about rape and responsibility. We dive into the topic of rape and sexual abuse, something that happens to more than a third of women across the globe but is mostly talked about behind closed doors, if at all. Did you know that if you are sexually violated, you have as big of a chance in the western world (like Sweden or the US) to get justice as you are in Cambodia? Often the blame is put on the survivor instead of the perpetrator and in this episode we discuss how we can change this through our actions and the conversations we are having in our day-to-day lives. Thordis also offers some amazingly beautiful advice and support for survivors of abuse. Listen in and help make a change NOW!
