At 36, the star #tennis player is in the midst of “a late-career resurgence that’s rare for any sport,” Peter de Jonge writes in this week’s @nytmag. After a 6-month layoff in 2016 to rehab a balky knee, he arrived in Melbourne this past January for the @australianopen having played in only a single tuneup tournament. Wielding a remade stroke, he won his first Grand Slam title since 2012. And then he kept going, beating his rival, @ラファエル・ナダル, even more convincingly at Indian Wells, in California, and Miami, and winning his record 8th Wimbledon — and 19th major — without dropping a set. Not only is #Federer not acting his tennis age; observers believe he’s playing the best tennis of his life. His 20-year career has traced the unlikely path of an inverted parabola: from unbeatable to unbeatable, with a 7-year stretch of eminently beatable in between.
