Just a note to the parents out there, and perhaps to anyone else who's having a challenging week like I am. This is a pic of my three year old in the middle of throwing what turned out to be an hour long tantrum on the way home from walking his brother to school. I set some new rules in place this week and he was NOT HAVING IT and wanted to make sure I knew it. He has big emotions (like his mom), so it can be extremely challenging for me not to react with my own big emotions. I chose to ask (plead with) myself to just hold space for his anger and not rush him, which is NOT EASY when I still have to get him to preschool and have my own busy day ahead. Once the fire had burned itself out a bit, we talked/hugged through those big feelings ...and today? One of the best, most connected mornings we've ever had together. "This too shall pass" is resonating deeply with me this week and I wanted you all to know that we're all in this together. Just keep doing your best and trying to be a little kinder to yourself and others than you were the day before.
