“Animal cafes are common in Japan. I visited this owl café in Kyoto and was thrilled to see owls in real life. But I soon realised how bad it was for these captive animals that are forced to reverse their nocturnal habits and subjected to a stressful environment, with people constantly petting them. I captured this image with mixed emotions.
