Kate Russo would know. “There’s an element to it that’s addictive,” said Kate, a clinical psychologist and #eclipsechaser who lives in Northern Ireland. She was photographed here by @nickcotephoto. Kate saw her first eclipse on the coast of France in 1999. She was hooked. In 2001 she traveled to Madagascar to catch her next total solar eclipse. “That’s when I thought, ‘I’m an eclipse chaser,’” she said. The chase led her to South Australia in 2002, on a Galápagos Islands cruise in 2005, Turkey in 2006, Mongolia in 2008, China in 2009, Australia again in 2012, the Faroe Islands in 2015 and Indonesia last year. For all those eclipses and all that travel, she has spent just 22 minutes in all beneath #totality. “The endorphins kick in,” she said. “There’s an element to it that’s addictive.” If you're on — or very close to — the path of totality, we want to see what your celebration looks like.
