"I wanted to retrace my roots growing up in Omaha and going to church," said @photodre, a photographer in Brooklyn. "I wanted to see how that looks on the streets in New York, and, through clothes, explore how people wear traditional attire." @photodre’s father was a minister in Omaha, so church on Sunday was an all-day affair. It would begin when his grandfather picked up the family in what he called his “Sunday van.” @photodre sang in the choir, went to Sunday school and usually ended up having a meal at the home of another preacher. “You were spending time with people from church and being part of the community,” he said. Drawing from those experiences, he recently spent a couple of Sundays roaming the streets in Brooklyn and Harlem searching for people dressed in their #Sundaybest. “I was looking for things that were familiar from my childhood,” he said. At first these girls in #Harlem wouldn’t pose for @photodre, but after he shot a couple pictures, they began to ham it up. “They were like, ‘Oh, hold on, we can pose, we can really make it happen,’" he said.
