This beautiful bottle of Château Haut-Brion 1996 is from the personal collection of the Earl of Halifax. ‘1996 is a stunning vintage,’ says our specialist Charles Foley (@c.t.foley). ‘Full of rich, ripe red-fruits: raspberries and cranberries alongside a twist of cinnamon and clove – flavours fit for the King’s table.’

Haut-Brion was first mentioned in England in the Royal Cellar ledger of King Charles II, 1660. The great English diarist Samuel Pepys wrote that the wine ‘hath a good and most particular taste I never met with’.
