If you're anything like my mom, you'll order a Cesar salad and then applaud yourself for eating your greens ??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️ hahaha. I laugh because I know better BUT many are unaware about just how much the croutons, creamy dressings and added cheese and bacon bits can steer the seemingly healthy 'greens' in the opposite direction! - When ordering a salad, the dressing can be your downfall! Avoid anything in a creamy sauce (coleslaw, pasta salads, and potato salads), and skip the bacon bits and fried noodles. Instead, load up on raw vegetables, and well-drained marinated vegetables (artichoke hearts, red peppers, or mushrooms), and for a change, add in some fruit or nuts for an added kick of flavor or crunch. - Watch the add-ons to vegetable salads. Even salads that are mostly raw vegetables are a problem if they’re loaded with cheese. Take the typical Caesar salad in most restaurants (the one topped with chicken or shrimp as well as plenty of cheese and mayo in the dressing). Add in the fried croutons and it definitelyyyy adds up! - If you've been following me for a minute you know how I preach the importance of staying healthy while STILL HAVING A LIFE! I dine out quite frequently (almost every day) and always manage to fit that into my healthy lifestyle and you can too!
