Virginia Working Landscapes staff and SCBI scientists, graduate students, interns, and citizen scientists work together to conduct biodiversity surveys within our 15 county study region. These surveys help us better understand the factors that affect the region’s biodiversity and also to develop best land management practices for people and wildlife. Bumble bee surveys are especially important because these bees are vital pollinators and their diversity is a good indicator of a healthy mix of field, forest and grassland plant species richness. #PollinatorWeek
