A clown knifefish at Aquarium de la Porte Doree in Paris, France.
Although this mature fish is distinguishable by it’s large dark spots, juvenile clown knifefish are born without them. As young fish, they typically school together and stay near plants and water logs for protection. However, when they mature, clown knifefish become loners, navigating the rivers and basins of southeast Asia alone while foraging for any fish that might fit into their mouths.
