? @johnkernickphotography I've wanted to kayak this coastline for quite a while, the conditions looked pretty good this weekend so we were up early and launched from Studland, about 200 metres south of Old Harry Rocks and The Pinnacles.
These stacks have been formed over millions of years, during that time the sea has been gradually eroding the joints and bedding planes where the softer chalk meets harder bedrock of the rock formations to create a cave. This eventually erodes right through to create an arch. The arch subsequently collapses to leave the stacks. In the photo you can see Swanage in the distance. .
