This icon of 17th century Dogon statuary tells the story of the origin of the Dogon #cosmos. A primordial #mother presents her two children to create a new existence, and thanks to this artist the story can be retold now, 400 years later, and beyond. Dogon art emerged primarily out of the #universal human need for #spiritual guidance and to serve high #religious purposes. These works of art are materialisation of mythic events, characters and ideas.
