In some ways, #Cuzco seems like a city frozen in time: cobblestone streets and clay-tile roofs, men and women in indigenous garb selling fruits and vegetables, and meticulously preserved traditions and relics dating back centuries. The ancient #Incan capital sits snugly in an Andean mountain valley in #Peru. The @nytimestravel writer @staletwizzlers wanted to get a taste of it all — on a reasonable budget. During his visit, while looking for a truly excellent view of the city, he followed one of many uneven, winding stone staircases. “It wasn’t more than a couple of dozen stairs, but I was feeling it,” he writes. “I thought, I’m not that out of shape, am I?” Oxygen is precious when you’re above 11,000 feet, and its lack gives new meaning to the word breathtaking. But once you're acclimated, @staletwizzlers suggests climbing up to Limbus Restobar. The bar is awkward to get to, but at 20 soles, about $6, its 2-for-1 mojitos are hard to beat. And just look at the view, captured here by Guillermo Gutierrez Carrascal.
