At some point in the hazy history of Easter island, stone heads across the entire isle were violently brought down. Theories collide as to what happened- some blame an island civil war, some point to reports of the "earth shaking" and others suspect a tsunami devastated the coastline where they stood. Today around fifty statues have been resurrected, including this Moai who stands alone on Ahu Ko Te Riku with eyes that still beam #EasterIsland #RapaNui #IslaDePascua
