Sometimes Jason Segel wants to make you laugh, as he did on “How I Met Your Mother” and in movies like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” But sometimes he’s trying to make you think, as in “The End of the Tour,” in which he played David Foster Wallace. His more cerebral side is on display in “The Discovery,” a new @ネットフリックス film out today. Starting with the premise that a scientist (Robert Redford) has proved the existence of an afterlife, this sci-fi film considers the complications of such a breakthrough — particularly for the scientist’s son and the woman he has fallen in love with (Rooney Mara). In real life, Jason Segel has long had the urge to “move to the mountains, and no one’s ever going to see me again,” he said. “I found the healthy version of that.” After “How I Met Your Mother” ended, the 34-year-old moved to a farm. “No animals,” he said. “I have an orange grove. I tend to it by pointing at stuff. We have an orchard manager.” @davidwalterbanks took this #portrait of #JasonSegel. Visit the link in our profile to read the full interview.
