Artist Cyrus Kabiru grew up next to a garbage site in Kenya. As a kid, he used to tell his dad that he wanted to give trash a second life, and now he does. Cyrus, a @TEDFellow, traverses the streets of Nairobi looking for litter to transform into imaginative eyewear. “When I walk, I get inspired by the things that I find,” he says. “In my studio, it’s like a museum. Everyone takes photos of the place because it’s half very beautiful junk, and I can’t work without it.” To see more of his striking work, visit go.ted.com/trashglasses
