Can you name #5WomenArtists? We are joining @WomenInTheArts to call special attention to the gender imbalance in the art world. Throughout the month of March we will feature work by women artists on view, and in our collection.
#PerleFine's "Polyphonic" (1945) is currently on view in Visionaries: Creating a Modern Guggenheim. The artist was active in the avant-garde art scene in New York City from the 1920s through the 1960s, but despite her connection to well-known artists such as Willem de Kooning, and her success in exhibiting her work, Fine is not well known among 20th-century American abstract painters.
