This is the biggest festival of the year in #Tibet and is celebrated over a three day period with gift giving, celebrations and rituals, including lighting yak butter lamps like these at #Tashilumpo Monastery in #Shigatse. Unfortunately, for political reasons, foreigners cannot witness Losar in Tibet as the Chinese government closes this once independent country to all tourism for the weeks before and after it. #buddhism #monk #yearoftherooster #losar
