It's been hard to hold on to hope these days. I'm trying to find small moments to stay positive, but seeing the rights of transgender students rescinded yesterday has me angrier and more broken hearted than I know how to handle.
I don't know how to find patience for this and for people who feel that trans students don't deserve the same basic rights as cis-gendered students. I'm crushed by the basic lack of understanding and compassion I've seen online and heard in person lately and the only way I know to counter it is to keep showing up, speaking up and donating to legal and defense funds that are fighting to protect these students- and all trans people- from the injustice and danger they're facing every day.
I and everyone at DS stand with trans students and ALL trans people, period. Trans rights are human rights and we will keep fighting to create safe spaces (online and off) and to show up and speak up for their rights in every possible way.
