Part 1 of 2: What are we doing in our daily lives that truly pushes the boundaries that have been engrained in our minds and culture since long before we were born? Are we questioning our limitations? Are we living up to our full potential and ambition? Are we aspiring for high level positions and rankings? Are we following our hearts' desires or are we confined to the societal standards and expectations of marriage, kids, and white picket fence? To really influence and mobilize change, I believe that more women need to step up and occupy positions of power. That's not to say that a woman with influence and power is more important or deserving of true equality, but rather that they are able to inspire and demand a new set of standards for the entire female population. When I think of the human species, I see many differences but none that makes one inferior to another. It's time we live and act like women who command respect in every aspect of our lives. It's time to realize that when we leave the march or rally, the real work is to then be done within ourselves. We are strong. We are powerful. We are capable. - I encourage you all- man and woman- to pick up this book, "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg. It offers the truth and facts behind the feminist cry of inequality that so many people don't see in today's world. Why don't they see it? The same reason why we, as women, don't strive for higher ranking positions. We've been taught to be docile, nurturing creatures who's real place is in the home and with the kids. And we've been trained to think that our place is in the passenger seat during the major decisions that will affect or lives, nations, and planet. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm ready to drive. Who's ready to break the status quo? #leanin #equalityforall #feminist #humanist #empowerment
