by @babaktafreshi, The World at Night. In the past 2 decades I spent about a thousand nights imaging under stars in 7 continents. Night does hide a world but reveals a universe. Night reminds many people of dark colorless eerie environment, but its easy to become "Acquainted with the night" (Robert Frost poem, 1928). The night sky became my second home, became my bridge to connect cultures, art and science through photography. Natural night is an essential element of environment that is fading away in our modern society due to light pollution. Today over 80% of North Americans live where the #milkyway is no longer visible. By losing the natural night skies we lose the best connection with our origin and future. My images try to reclaim a night sky that most modern people have lost. In this #timelapse video filmed earlier this year for the "Borderless Sky" documentary series, the Galaxy appears in a crystal-clear night sky from #Altiplano, high above the #Atacama desert in #Chile. @natgeocreative @ナショナルジオグラフィック @natgeochannel
