Air Force Major Troy Gilbert died saving his fellow Americans during firefight against al-Qaeda in 2006.
His body wasn't immediately recovered and in the last decade, parts of his remains have been found. But this month, his full body will finally be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetary. He will be the first person ever to be buried in its hallowed grounds three times. "The lesson for everybody who hears this story is that we don't give up," Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James tells TIME. "We bring them home."
