The reality in #Peru as well as dozens of other countries is economics. The population sees and chance to profit from their ancestors. A small pot or other artifacts can pay them enough to live on for 6 months. A piece of gold, silver or a beautiful fabric and pay them well over a years earning.
The farmer in this photo admitted to looting the Castillo de Huarmey, but only enough to live on. He said that the government allowed it because he was so poor. He also decided not to give us his name.
