Photo by @Tim Laman. This shot is a two-page spread in my newest @ナショナルジオグラフィック magazine story called “Orangutans – Out on a Limb”. Follow the link in my profile to the @ナショナルジオグラフィック website, and you can see this orangutan climbing the tree as a time-lapse. I captured this shot by hiding a camera up in this tree, and triggering it from the ground when the orangutan came back to climb up and feed on the figs in this tree. My goal: show an orangutan in its habitat in a new way – from above with a wide lens. A very similar shot taken on a different day recently won me the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” award, so this was a productive tree for me!
