Paige Kassalen made history this year as one of three women to serve on the 17-person ground crew for the world's first solar powered airplane to circumnavigate the world, Solar Impulse two. "I had just been working full time at Covestro [a company that produces high-tech polymer materials] for six months when I saw it was looking for an employee to represent it and work as an electrical engineer on the project it was sponsoring," relates Paige, who's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech made her the perfect candidate. Having been responsible for catching the wing of the plane during landings and solving any electrical problems that arose while on the journey, Paige proves that a STEM career can bring you some pretty lofty heights. "A lot of young people don't understand the potential that engineering has for them," she says. "It allows you to push boundaries and invent the future." ?Hit the link in bio to read about more #SmartGirls who are setting trends across all industries. ?: @cgbp Styling: @its_brody
