As September rolls around, the annual rutting season for elk is marked by the beautiful and haunting calls of males searching for companionship. We were first alerted to this male when we heard his bugling - a bellowing squeal unlike anything you have ever heard. He was clearly on a mission, heading across a field in the direction of the river. By the time we got to the riverbank, all we could see was his head and antlers in the deep water. When he emerged on the other side, we only had a few seconds to admire him before he disappeared into the brush. #NPS100 #FindYourPark
