#Halloween2016 is a wrap! It's taken years for us to find the balance between "healthy + happy" on Halloween night for our kids. It hasn't been easy! This year I feel like we found the sweet spot and wanted to share in case you struggle with this too. . Last night, my 7-year old cheerleader and 8-year old Kylo Ren were allowed to have 2 pieces of candy from their trick or treat adventures. We didn't want them to miss out on all the fun with their friends, so we limited it to 2 pieces ( because corn syrup, food dye and chocolate are not my kids' friends... and actually makes them sick because they are highly sensitive to those specific ingredients. . Ryan and I told them they would have to trade in the rest of the candy to us. We gave them 10 cents for each piece of candy...or they could swap it for a piece of organic candy.) So for every piece they collected the night before, they got something for it in return. They each walked away with $8+ dollars in their pocket and a few packs of organic candy. . It worked out great! The only thing I'm not sure what to do with now is the 5+ pounds of classic candy I bought off them. Since they are allergic to it, I'm not gonna keep it around for them. I was actually thinking we could bag it up and donate it to our troops overseas? I know when my little brother served over in Iraq he would have loooooved having a box of candy show up. . Do you have any ideas? I love hearing and sharing different ideas and viewpoints, I just ask that you respond in a loving way. I'm human too ?. Hateful + purely negative comments will be deleted because our fellow rawkstars don't need to see that. Let's help build each other up and encourage each other along this journey. .
