All aboard! With #baseball in mind, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reporter @danbarry1958 and the photographer @george_etheredge spent a long, long night aboard the Lake Shore Limited, a #train that runs between New York and Chicago. Among other places, it stops in Cleveland, where they got off. Chicago and Cleveland: “2 Midwest cities that have been denied baseball glory by the conspiring fates since forever,” @danbarry1958 writes. The Cleveland @indians haven’t won a #WorldSeries since the Truman era; the Chicago @シカゴ・カブス, not since before World War I. Their championship seasons were so yesteryear that both teams traveled by # ?. And so @danbarry1958 and @george_etheredge traveled: Along Hudson River, into Poughkeepsie, then Albany-Rensselaer. The scattered lights of upstate New York flickered past. Utica. Syracuse. Rochester. At 1 am, the Lake Shore Limited paused in the stillness of Buffalo. At 2:30, the rain-slick streets of Erie, Pennsylvania, shimmered in the reds of stoplights directing phantom traffic. It was nearly 4 in the morning by the time the train sighed into Cleveland.
