Photo by @Cristina Mittermeier in the #GreatBearSea. Can you believe that when the tide rises, the lower portion of the thousands of salmon streams that flow into the ocean in the Great Bear Sea of British Columbia flood? This gives salmon, who are making their migration upstream, a “lift” and gives them a leg up on the first part of their journey into their spawning grounds. I took this photo in #Kitasoo First Nations territory and marveled at how the inhabitants of this beautiful part of the world have been protecting these streams for thousands of years. With @paulnicklen.
