This is a photo of oil. Artist Fabian Oefner likes to play with science, transforming everyday materials into something unrecognizable. In his photo series, Oil Spill, he experiments with the thin film of oil we tend to see in gas stations. Ever wonder why it’s so colorful? It’s the thickness of the oil layer, combined by the power of evaporation. “[As oil evaporates,] it goes from cooler colors to warm colors, red being the last one, before it’s gone again,” says @fabianoefner.
