Meet the newest customer base for medical marijuana: pets on pot. There’s Sophie, 8, who was diagnosed with cancer. Tug, a 9-year-old box turtle, who was born with a shell and bone disorder. And Little Kitty, 12, who suffers from arthritis. For a long time Little Kitty spent her days hiding in a closet. But for the past few months, she has been taking a cannabis-based tincture to help ease her pain. The Food and Drug Administration has not approved cannabis for pets, writes @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reporter @lauramholson — in part because there’s little research showing its effectiveness. Vets can’t write prescriptions for the products and, in states where marijuana is illegal, they’re wary of discussing the idea.
