Photo by @tylermetcalfe | American Bike Project, Day 92 | Biking down the Historic Columbia River Highway towards Portland, Oregon was one of the most scenic routes I have been on since departing Washington, DC. I have been through daunting mountain passes and vast open landscapes, but this road tops them all. The route is lined with mossy old growth forests, and provides a fun gentle route weaving up and down along the floor of the canyon. Occasionally the route climbs to high points and opens up to vistas like this one, overlooking the Columbia river for miles.
