Photo @pedromcbride // Reflecting on Reality. Skógafoss, is one of Iceland’s largest waterfalls and also one of its most popular. This gorgeous river has been the backdrop for Hollywood films like “Thor" and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and now is frequently lined with enthusiastic tourists (like me). I was lucky to visit this remarkable North Atlantic island and was amazed at its popularity. The country has done a great job with its tourism boom, but at what point does popularity tarnish the “Golden Goose”? I don’t know, but I often ask that of myself and my cameras as imagery can promote the landscapes I love. Tourism can be a remarkable economic tool if done well, but it is double-sided sword like most things on our beautiful planet. I’m always happy to focus my lenses on wild landscapes — to highlight their beauty and fragility — but I am also acutely aware that they play a hand in a complicated cycle. #Iceland #tourism #gratitude #chasingrivers
