I never do woman crush Wednesdays because i find it kinda cringe.... ? So today, I'm switching it up and doing a #wew a "woman empowerment Wednesday" I started following @jenwiderstrom after she became a trainer on America's Biggest looser. (That shows my guilty pleasure) Granted she looks incredible but physique aside, I find her all around energy & attitude towards training & nutrition enlightening. She's strong & powerful & always talks about prioritising her Health over aesthetics. Now I'm not bashing or putting down anyone who trains for Aesthetics alone, in fact I admire them for being able to do so, however for me it's the last thing on my mind when I step into a gym or prepare myself a meal. My thoughts in the gym are 'can I better my PB today and with my meals, it's 'is this meal full of vitamins, minerals and fresh food that will fuel me' I just want to feel strong, energised and get shit done. I know Some (not all!) of fitness models post pics looking incredibly lean but fail to mention they are dehydrated, hungry and probably miserable from constantly denying themselves to have a life outside of their appearance. When I have a shoot I have to step it up & it's hard both mentally and physically So to do it 24/7 isn't realistic and I personally don't think it's safe where your health is concerned either. Jen posts videos of her training & techniques as apposed to just the selfie results. It is far more interesting for me to see the informative training & form side of things. She's motivating and has (in my opinion) an incredible physique. she looks like a strong athlete, not just someone who's lean and will look good in a bikini. That's the one thing I always say to Olly when he's training me and sending me new programs. "I want to be lean but NOT to the stage where I look weak" or "I want definition on my stomach but not a 6 pack" It drives him crazy ? Anyway, each to their own but this lady is my new inspiration & I shall be checking her feed regularly! ??‍♀️
