“The way certain people react to you,” the photographer @markhartman told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ, “has everything to do with you.” Since mid-August, @markhartman has been photographing people on Coney Island beach, and sharing his photos on Instagram. His portrait series “Island” isn’t really about Coney Island. Scroll through his feed: no hot dogs, no Wonder Wheel, no boardwalk. Just people. Lacora, pictured here, recently moved to New York from Philadelphia. She was at the beach by herself when @markhartman asked to take her photo. He said he was drawn to her confidence, as well as her personal style.
