It is located in the sleepy Puglia region of Italy, an area largely known as the place Italians go to vacation. The beauty of the old city, affordable apartments, friendly culture, and location (by the sea!) have recently been attracting retirees and expats from all over. While visiting the city I stayed with a woman who used to be a costume designer on Broadway in New York. Over the past few years she has taken Italian lessons and is (almost) fluent. I also met a British man who moved there with his wife ten years ago.
