The image was made a few months after Veda was taken from her home as part of the 2008 raid on the Yearning for Zion Ranch, a Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS) stronghold. Based on what was later discredited as a hoax call about sexual abuse, Texas officials removed more than 400 adolescents and children from the ranch. Though they were returned to their families a few months later, investigations into abuse and underage marriage continued and several leaders of the organization were imprisoned. #tooyoungtowed #endchildmarriage #girls #usa
