Lila Beall, 3, petted a dog at @blackberryfarm, the 68-room East Tennessee lodge that her father Sam owned and managed until he died in a skiing accident 6 months ago. For the better part of a decade, @blackberryfarm has been a significant player in the elevation of both hyper-local Southern cooking and the idea of a luxury vacation built around agriculture. Visitors can lose themselves on a rope swing or put on hiking boots and wander down to a trout stream. But Sam’s sudden death cast his widow, Mary Celeste, 39 — his high-school sweetheart and wife of 18 years — in a new and unexpected role as @blackberryfarm’s proprietor and president. Visit the link in our profile to learn more about Mary Celeste's challenge at @blackberryfarm. @shawn_poynter_photography took this photo of Lila, the youngest of the 5 Beall children, while on assignment for @nytfood.
