Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety When I look at images like this it reminds me what an astonishing privilege it is to be a wildlife photographer, getting to experience the sights that we do. This was my first trip to Bandhavgarh National Park in India and tigers had always been the animal that I most wanted to see. Even now, having spent almost four months in total with these astonishing creatures my level of awe when one emerges from the undergrowth remains indescribable. With this image of an 11 month old cub that feeling was magnified as this cub was joined by its two siblings and for some 30 minutes they stalked and played around our solitary vehicle. The dense vegetation made it a challenge however as it was difficult to ever get a clear shot but imperfections in images such as these never really bother me. Instead I feel that the imperfections, such as the out of focus branch across this tigers’ chest actually add a level of authenticity, allowing the viewer to be certain that the image is a true reflection of what was seen, no artifice and not a manufactured or photo-shopped version of reality. It is the intensity of the eye contact that I most cherish about this encounter, having this young cub staring straight at me, fully focussed and poised on his comically oversized feet. I’m always so grateful that when I look through my photo archives I get to rediscover some of these images, remembering and re-experiencing encounters that had perhaps faded a little from my memory. I’m really appreciative of all of your fantastic support and generous comments even though time constraints don’t always allow me to respond to every one. They are and remain however massively appreciated so please do continue to #followme at @andyparkinsonphoto to keep up-to-date with my images @thephotosociety @andyparkinsonphoto @natgeo @natgeotravel @natgeocreative @natgeoyourshot #BengalTiger #Banghavgarh #phototips #India #ethicsbeforeimages #nature #naturelovers #wildlife #wildlifephotography #animalsofinstagram
