I started out as a competition climber where numbers and podium finishes were the only thing that mattered. Eventually, I found a love for the outdoors and the competition came from within rather than with others. My goal with climbing was to push myself to see what was possible. The feeling of being outside, experiencing nature, and gaining energy from the rock solidified my reasons of why I chose this lifestyle... It is who I am. I do love both vibes in which these two forms of competition present, but the outdoors will always have a top tier place in my ❤️. Now climbing has reached the ultimate platform for competitions: The Olympics. It is an honor that the lifestyle in which you and me represent is now valued as a sport. All 3 disciplines (sport, bouldering, and speed) combined will determine medals. This seems kind of unfair since most climbers specialize in just one discipline with the exception of a few. I feel as each discipline should receive its own medal then have a medal for the combined ranking. Also it is confusing that they categorize sport climbing meaning "the sport of climbing" as representing all 3 disciplines. Just write climbing haha. I totally read it as just sport climbing is going to be in.
