Photo @materas // It's wildflower season in the North Cascades! Here some alpine heather blooming beneath Ruth Mountain near Hannegan Pass in the North Cascades National Park. The North Cascades receive unimaginable amounts of snow each year and don't melt out until mid summer and some years not at all. The Mt. Baker ski resort, about 5 miles from where this photo was taken, broke the world record for annual snowfall in one year back in the 1998-1999 snow year when it received 95 FEET of snowfall! The previous record was 93.5 feet at Paradise, Mt. Rainier.
