To conquer the role of Aurora in “The Sleeping Beauty” is proof that a dancer is on her way to becoming a ballerina. Yesterday at the @MetOpera House, @cassiepearlt killed it. For the American #Ballet Theater soloist, who made her New York debut in Alexei Ratmansky’s production of “The Sleeping Beauty,” the performance was too fresh to analyze. “I learned that I’m capable,” the 22-year-old soloist told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ. “Even if it wasn’t the most incredible thing anybody’s seen, I was able to get through it, and I really did enjoy myself. For that, I’m happy.” @anrizzy, who took this photo, had never experienced ballet before he photographed the performance and scenes backstage. “I love what I do, and this is such a big deal in my world, but he didn’t quite understand why it was a big deal,” @cassiepearlt said. “It was like, oh yeah — you’re right. There are other things happening in this world.” Visit the link in our profile to see more #behindthescenes photos.
