"He remained at his post of duty, seeking to save others, regardless of his own life and went down with the ship." This memorial to Ernest Edward Samuel Freeman was erected by Bruce J. Ismay himself and joins 120 other victims of the Titanic disaster that are buried here in the Fairview Cemetery.
Halifax's role in the tragedy is such a somber part of the story, but an extremely necessary chapter for anyone who is fascinated with the great ship's history.
