The historic town of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
So many people focus on the new "old" bridge Stari Most, and rightly so, however the rest of the city deserves some love, too.
Developed in the 15th and 16th centuries as an Ottoman frontier town and again during the 19th and 20th centuries during the Austro-Hungarian empire, it was a beautiful, multi-cultural example of a tolerant co-existence and creative exchange between Muslims, Christians and Jews.
After being destroyed in the conflict of the 1990s, much of the city, along with the 400+ year old bridge was rebuilt as a symbol of reconciliation.
