Eritrean Tsega stands with her daughter Naher, 5, as her younger daughter, Noemi, 3, sleeps on the bed. They arrived at a reception center for asylum seekers in Mineo, Sicily, on May 18, 2016. Tsega and her daughters passed through Sudan and Libya on their way to Italy. She was funded by a relative who lives in the United States, and sought to enter Europe to be able to provide a safe environment for her children to grow up.
