Eugenia Katoufa (center) sits with two of the Syrian refugee children who are currently living in an apartment in Athens, #Greece, provided by the municipal council that Katoufa works for. The children’s mother, Walaa (not pictured), is a Syrian refugee who fled the war in #Syria with her family and is waiting to be reunited with her husband who is now in Sweden. lMs Katoufa visits the family often. “I learn Arabic and she (Walaa’s daughter) learns Greek and English… So they live here and we try to offer them what they need. Clothes, everything, the food every day of course. We take them to medical centre when they need. We have a group of volunteers. We take them to the park..We organise celebrations to have fun,” said Katoufa. “I feel very much sympathize with these mothers. I feel their pain, their agony, their stress. And of course, their right and hope to live in a peaceful world with all other people, to share the goods of life, and the happiness of life, especially peace, and the happiness of seeing our children to grow up,” Katoufa said. #actofhumanity © UNICEF/UN021998/Georgiev
