Tomorrow night, the ballerina Alessandra Ferri is returning, at 53, to the @metopera House stage to dance the teenage Juliet — probably her most famous role. She first performed as Juliet in 1984, when she was a 21-year-old principal at the Royal Ballet (@royaloperahouse). “I was a little afraid of doing it again,” said Alessandra, who retired in 2007. “I went through many stages of indecision and fear and excitement. Then at one point, I thought, I’m only alive once: Why not?” Alessandra has a full year of dancing ahead of her, but after 9 years in retirement, she insists that her career is over.
